Single use plastic free school project 2019
Objective
Villa Grimani International School is initiating a project involving the entire school to eliminate single use plastic within our institution and to spread awareness among pupils, the future citizens of the world, to initiate positive, long lasting environmental change in the world and to limit the damage plastic has on the environment.
Why
We wish to inspire and empower our students to influence and guide themselves, each other, their parents, governments and industries to take notice and action to create a better world for the children of today and tomorrow.
How
Through research, inter-curricular and practical activities, the students will discover how plastics in and around the school are unnecessary and how they could be recycled or replaced, always taking into account current health and safety laws.
Initial projects
- Encourage all students to have a reusable water bottle.
- To appropriately use recycling bins around the school.
- Community beach and park clean ups.
- Science lessons and discussions focusing on the topic.
