The importance of parents
Parents are every child’s first educators. We understand the importance that each parent holds in their child’s life. We therefore aim to work in partnership with parents to ensure that children are encouraged to work hard and progress with teacher’s, parent’s and the school‘s input. Every teacher in the school is available to talk to parents at an allotted time every week as are the school Director and Head Teachers.
Meetings informing parents of the school programme and other information are held regularly. Please note that it is not necessary for parents to be speakers of English for their children to attend the school, nor do we expect children to know English before starting at Villa Grimani. English support is given to children who enter Villa Grimani from Year1 upwards with little or no English and it is not necessary for parents to speak, read or write English to help their children study- that is part of our job and their growing self responsibility.
Diaries
Diaries are used for the following:
- communication between school and family
- homework information- written on the day in which the homework is due in.
Please use your child’s diary for communicating with his/her teacher on a daily basis, e.g. if they are going home with mum and not on the bus, if they have a doctor’s appointment at a certain time during the school day etc.
How to apply
It is possible to enrol your child at Villa Grimani at any point during the academic year providing there are spaces available. Children are accepted from Italian, foreign and international schools. They may be asked to sit an entry test and meet with staff on a few occasions to gage their level of English and to decide in which class they should be placed. Children entering with little or no English are given individual support from our support teachers in and out of the classroom.
